What Is The Horse Track?
While you can't keep pets in V Rising, you will eventually be able to get your hands on a horse, which can greatly aid in transportation around the map. You won't be able to find any horses within the Farbane Woods, but as you venture north, you can quickly find some.

V Rising: Every Plantable Seed And Where To Get It
Interesting in gardening while playing V Rising? Here, you can learn how to get every type of seed so you can grow your castle's garden.
In this guide, we are going to take a look at all you need to know about horses. This will include where to find them, as well as how to take care of them. Overall, having a horse is simple, but you will eventually be able to unlock a power that lets you automatically summon your loyal steed.
Where To Find Horses
Horses can commonly be found in the Dunley Farmlands, especially around the following locations.
- Mosswick Village
- Dawnbreak Village
- Horse Track
- Dunley Lumber Mill
- Bastion of Dunley
- Farms
- Militia Camps
Overall, horses are pretty common in this biome; we suggest heading north on the trail from the Farbane Woods that is just above the Bandit Trapper Camp. Up this road, you will eventually come across an intersection with a Militia Encampment and a farm.
The Militia Encampment here should have a horse in it, without too many guards nearby.
How To Ride A Horse
Riding a horse is fairly simple. Once there is a horse in sight, you just need to interact with it in order to hop on. Doing so will immediately give you control of the horse, with the following options replacing your latter two weapon abilities.
- Dismount
- Gallop
When on a horse, you can only use the primary ability for your weapon. This can give you a disadvantage if you prefer melee weapons, but with a pistol or crossbow, you will be able to ride while making ranged attacks from a safe distance.
Horse Stats
Horses have three stats that determine how good they are. The exact stat is randomized, so there is no area where 'better' horses are found.
Below, you can check out the three main horse stats, as well as what they are.
Stat | Description |
---|---|
Acceleration | How quickly your horse reaches its max speed |
Max Speed | How fast your horse can go |
Rotation Speed | How fast/accurately your horse can turn |
By default, your vampire character will have a speed of four. Horse speed can be from eight to 11, making them, at minimum, go twice as fast as an average vampire.
Horse stats will appear when you look at the inventory of your horse (opening your own inventory when nearby).
How To Increase Horse Stats With Saddles
With a saddle, you will also be able to increase your horse's stats. By putting a saddle on a Dominated Mount (which we will go over later), you can increase the stats of a horse by one (for each stat).
To make a Vampire Horse Saddle, you will need to use the following materials at the Leatherworking Station.
- 8x Thick Leather
- 4x Iron Ingot
How To Feed Horses
Horses will need to be taken care of, which means that they need to eat. To feed a horse, you will need to stand next to one and open your own inventory. If you are close enough, the horse's inventory will open as well.
From here, you will need to put Plant Fiber into one of the three inventory slots. Like Blood Essence in the Castle Heart, this will deplete over time. Fiber is fairly easy to get, so be sure to always have enough on hand to feed your steed.
How To Dominate A Horse
'Dominate Mount' is an unlockable vampiric power that turns a horse into a Vampiric Steed. Doing so will allow you to put a saddle on the horse, as well as recall (and revive) it to your location. Dominated horses will also no longer need to eat Plant Fiber.
To unlock the ability to Dominate Mount, you will first need to get your Castle Heart to level four.
Dominated Mounts will also gain a new skill; the ability to jump. This allows you to jump over obstacles, similar to the Wolf Form jump. Overall, only one horse can be dominated at a time. If you happen to find a better horse, you will need to 'Release Companion', and then re-dominate another horse.
What Is The Horse Track?
The Horse Track is a location on the left-hand edge of the Dunley Farmlands that holds several horses, as well as a race track where you can take horses around. Here, you can race your horses for fun, as well as test out how fast one of your horses is.
There are no enemies within the track, allowing you to ride freely without worrying about being swarmed by enemies.
