Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha responds to trolls questioning her faith in spirituality and temple visits.

Actor Nushrratt Bharuccha has opened up about the criticism she frequently faces online regarding her faith, clothing choices, and personal beliefs. The Chhorii 2 star recently addressed how she often faces harsh online judgment for visiting temples or wearing certain outfits. Trolls go as far as questioning her identity and religious beliefs.

In a candid interview with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, the actress revealed that she remains firm on her beliefs despite being on the receiving end of negative comments. She maintains that she is unbothered by online hate and went on to say, “For me, my faith is real. Unreal things happen, and that’s what strengthens my belief.”

She further added while emphasising on the importance of religious freedom that, “Wherever you find peace—whether it’s in a mandir, a gurudwara or a church—you should go there. I even say this openly: I pray namaz. If I get time, I pray five times a day. I even carry my prayer mat while travelling. Wherever I go, I find the same peace and calm. I’ve always believed there’s one God, and different paths to connect with Him. And I want to explore all those paths.”

She believes that this is what keeps her connected and that this is the path that she should follow. Her grounded approach to faith gives her freedom to respect all faiths and religious institutions.

Talking about the scrutiny due to this, she says, “When I post my picture, people ask, ‘What kind of Muslim is she? Look at her clothes.’ Whether it’s about my clothes or where I go, I’ve faced comments.”

However, she is unfazed by the negativity. Talking about how she handles the flood of negativity, she said, “Just like any other criticism. It doesn’t change me. It won’t stop me from going to a temple or praying namaz. I’ll keep doing both. Because that’s my faith. When you’re clear in your thoughts, spirit, and mind, no one in the world can shake you.”

On the professional front, Nushrratt was most recently seen in Chhorii 2, the sequel to the 2021 horror drama Chhorii. Directed by Vishal Furia, the film also stars Soha Ali Khan, Gashmeer Mahajani, among others. The drama dives into the supernatural threats and has themes of dark folklore. The film is streaming on Prime Video.
